The phone in question is an iPhone X 64GB in black and comes only with the box and no accessories included. Bellonil also advises against using it as a daily driver’s phone nor restoring it or wiping its data.

If you want to see how the device came to its final form, Pillonel has also posted a full guide on his YouTube account detailing the whole process. In short, Apple’s engineered Lightning Connector then reversed the Lightning Connector replica which allowed it to make a flexible circuit board that I was able to place vertically inside the iPhone between the battery and the Taptic motor.

The entire project is open source and you can find all the instructions in its GitHub repository if you want to modify your iPhone with USB-C on your own. Last but not least, Billonel said he will continue to tinker with the USB-C port on iPhones and even hinted at adding a USB-C connector to a pair of AirPods which would be an interesting project to pursue.
