It looks like WhatsApp will soon make changes to the “Delete for Everyone” feature. The latest report from WaBetaInfo indicates that the company could extend the time limit for this feature.
The Delete for Everyone feature was originally introduced in 2017. Currently, it is one of the most useful and important features that the messaging service has offered to its users. This option saves someone from embarrassment if they accidentally send the wrong message to a group or individual chat.
WhatsApp first introduced this feature with a time limit of seven minutes and after a few months, it was increased to over an hour. It now appears that the company can increase the time limit for this feature indefinitely, according to screenshots shared by WABetaInfo.
The mentioned source reported that the new development was found in the Android v126.96.36.199 beta version of WhatsApp. The report also indicated that this feature is still under development, and users should not get excited about this new update until it is made available to all beta testers. The mentioned source did not confirm when the feature might be launched for users.
Currently, WhatsApp users only get 1 hour to delete messages from personal and group chats in the messenger chat. Once the message is deleted, the app displays a notification in the chat window that says “This message has been deleted”. Although there are ways to check deleted WhatsApp messages as well.
Besides, WABetaInfo also suggested that the iOS version of WhatsApp is getting a new video playback interface. With this, one will be able to pause the video, play it in full screen mode, or close a Picture-in-Picture (PiP) window. The feature is already visible to a few people who are using the iOS v188.8.131.52 beta of the app. This feature was rolled out to Android users in October.
