International Mountaineering Day was celebrated in Srinagar on Saturday with the aim of promoting adventure and tourism. A documentary about mountain climbing has also been created.
Rauf Trumbo (a famous adventure expert) said: “On the occasion of the United Nations, on December 11th, International Mountaineering Day is celebrated all over the world. Mountains are very close to our hearts. Not only for people who belong to mountainous regions but also those who do not. I think That not only on this particular day but whenever we have a chance, we must create awareness of the mountains, plants, animals, etc.”
Jalaluddin Baba (adventure film director) said, “Mountains play a very important role in our lives and disrupting them can upset the balance of our entire ecosystem. So we must all come forward and protect our mountains.
“I would advise people not to throw rubbish around the mountains while going on activities such as trekking and hiking,” he added.
Guide Tanvir Dar, “As a social activist, I would say that the bodies of water are polluted. So I would like to ask the youth of Kashmir to come forward to save the bodies of water because without water, nothing is possible.”
