The Nilufar Mansoor Memorial Scholarship Program has been opened to offer scholarships to outstanding and economically disadvantaged students at the University of Dhaka’s School of Business Studies.
This initiative was taken with the financial support of the Mutual Investment Bank (MTB) Foundation.
Vice President Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhtar Al-Zaman inaugurated the scholarship program on campus on Monday.
MTB Foundation officials handed a check of 1.32 million taka to DU VC to start the scholarship program.
Under this programme, scholarships will be awarded to students each year based on their academic results.
A total of 34 students from various departments of the College of Business Studies received the scholarship this year.
Mrs. Nilofar Mansoor, the renowned educational expert and founding director of Sunbeams School, passed away at the age of 74 on May 26 last year while undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the capital.
The late Nilofar Manzur was the wife of a prominent industrialist and former interim government advisor Syed Mansur Elahi.
Syed Mansoor Elahi, Founding Chairman of MTB, Syed Mahbubur Rahman, Managing Director and CEO of MTB, Professor Razia Begum, among others, spoke at the scholarship program opening ceremony.
Professor Abdel Moeen, Dean of the College of Business Studies, presented a note of thanks.
DU VC paid tribute to the memory of Nilufer Mansur, a former student of the University of Dhaka and an outstanding academic. He thanked the concerned persons including MTB for offering this scholarship to Dhaka University students.
Congratulations to scholarship recipients, VC inspired students to overcome all obstacles to the acquisition of knowledge and skills and work for the development of the country.
