African and African American Studies Program Academic Scholarship Opportunity

The African American and African Studies Program is pleased to announce the Academic Scholarships for the Spring of 2022. The African American and African Studies Program remains committed to advancing the interests of students at the University of Arkansas while recognizing the academically talented majors in our program.

“AAST is invested in providing relevant education that prepares students for graduate, vocational schools or the job market through our coordinated academic programs to engage students in a critical examination of the complexity of human experience as well as through the particular set of skills we train,” said Carrie Banton, Program Director. Discipline.” “These skills, including critical thinking, interdisciplinary analysis, and global cultural competence that are the focal point for employers and graduate and professional schools alike form the core of what we do.”

To this end, in the process of providing a relevant and rigorous education designed for the real world, the program remains committed to supporting student funding to assist today’s scholars in this competitive landscape by helping to defray the costs associated with college enrollment. To be eligible for the African American and African Studies Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student (at least 12 credits)
  • Be enrolled in an African and African American Studies major
  • Have completed or are currently enrolled in at least 3 credit hours of AAST . courses
  • Have at least 2.5 GPA

This one-time award is up to $5,000. Preference will be given to students who have minors and/or credit hours at the Arab Academy for Science and Technology.
